We spent the first three nights of August 06 in the Pension "Sponsel" in Oberfellendorf.
Our plan to do some hiking in this wonderful region (Franconian Swiss), was partly thwarted by frequent rain showers, although the little we saw was enough to convince us.
Franconian Swiss is the still very rural and mountainous country north-north-east of Nuremberg. You find old castles here, and also some stalactite caves to visit. The main attractions, though, are the varied landscape and vegetation, suited for hiking, climbing, biking and boating.
Many taverns which you come accross in the villages offer inexpensive, yet opulent meals. Franconian Swiss is also the home of many small breweries. Their produce are of legendary reputation in southern Germany.
Our Pension and the attached restaurant are owned by the family "Sponsel" for over 30 years.
