We recently stayed 3 nights in this great little hotel in a modenized building overlooking the Main River. Rooms and bedroom are smallish but cleverly laid out and spotlessly maintained and efficent elevator up to the rooms. Very good breakfast spread. Not much English spoken by staff but they are eager to please, and everything from dinner reservations to transport arrangements were easily worked out.

This was our second stay here (we're a married couple 50+), and were surprised the hotel had not been previously show up on Tripadvisor. We were relucant to spotlight a "hidden gem," but the Alter Kranen deserves the patronage. Nice managers reunning a nice establishment at a nice price (86 euros per night in mid -May including breakfast).

Wurzburg is a great destination. All the sights (Residence, Fortess, Chapel & the "spitals) are easily accessible and well-worth spending much time in, with the bonus of that there are great wines and some... more
