I had low expectations for Berlin. I thought that we would see some historical places and it would just be another big city...boy was I wrong! There were five of us (3 adults and 2 kids -ages 7 & 12) and we all loved Berlin!! I don't even know where to start. We stayed on the Unter den Linden about 3 blocks from the Brandenberg Gate, so we walked everywhere. There are so many great cafes, pretty and wide boulevards and history around every corner. We took a boat ride along the Spree, walked to the top of the Reichtag, walked along Unter den Linden to the Brandenberg Gate and then the opposite direction to Alexanderplatz. We had a wonderful dinner at a cafe on Gendarnmarkt, saw Checkpoint Charlie and the Topography of Terror outdoor exhibit. We love Ampelmann on the stoplights, the friendly people and so many other things! No one was ever bored, which considering this was the end of a two week trip with kids was amazing. I actually like Berlin even more than Paris!! Oh... more
