The Hotel am Theater has an excellent location, nearly equidistant between the train station and the old town, and walkable to both. The rooms are large, light, clean, and airy with high ceilings. Because the hotel is at the intersection of two major streets, I was worried that my room would be noisy. It was not for two reasons. 1) The windows are modern, double-paned windows that seem to seal out most noise. 2) This is Cottbus, and the major streets are virtually empty at night.
I got a special rate (50 Euros) that did not include breakfast, so I cannot comment on breakfast.
There were two things that I did not like about the hotel.
1) There is no elevator. Since the rooms have high ceilings, the stories are extra large by U.S. domestic standards. That meant a lot of steps to the third floor.
