I booked this hotel through my conference's arrangements with the Braunschweig tourist office, and only then did I read some online reviews of the Fürstenhof. They were not complimentary.
I found the opposite to be true. This small, quiet, three-star hotel is five minutes' walk from the train station, and fifteen minutes from the center of the old city. My single room was generously large by European standards, and impeccably clean. The staff were competent and friendly, and the business center had free internet. The standout feature, however, was the (included) breakfast buffet, one of the best I've encountered anywhere: every day from 6 to 10 am there were eggs three ways, bacon, sausages, sliced salmon, several kinds of cheese and cold cuts, four juices, four cereals, yogurts, a varied basket of rolls, breads, jams, and other things I've forgotten. My only negative comments are that (this being Germany) the bacon was undercooked by American tastes, and the Oriental throw rugs...
