As has been said before, the Monopol is a no frills hotel in a very good location. I stayed here for three nights with some friends, one of whom booked the trip. It is very conveniently situated for the main station (Hauptbahnhof), as you can either walk (about 5 mins) or take the underground (U-bahn) and then walk about 2 mins. We stayed here the third week of July 2006 when all of Europe was having a heat wave. This put the Monopol hotel at an unexpected disadvantage, since the rooms are not air conditioned.
