Went to Essen for Techno Classica, classic car show. Hotel Kessing is convenient for the station (HBf), but that's about the best of it. Room was basic, clean, but rather tired. Smelt of smoke. Breakfast was basic but good, and the people friendly. Not particularly cheap Wouldn't recommend. And the road outside is a race track for ambulances, sirens all... More

This was the 2nd hotel I stayed at in Essen. The neon sign outside (seventies) was broken, some letters didn't light. My Room was a good size but the bed was hard, with grime around the edge of the mattress where it fits into the bedstead. Bathroom spacious but ancient, towels had where nearly threadbare (I kid not!). Whole place... More
