I stayed for two nights in a single room (€ 26 with own bath and breakfast) while attending a congress in Jena's centre. Unfortunately it is far away from the centre and quite a walk from the next bus stop (and there are no buses late at night). on the other side there is a lot of forest around. Once you get there people are friendly but you note directly that most of them are still learning or trainees and don#t like talking too much. the building itself is a typical multistorey GDR-buildung (Plattenbau), the rooms are renovated but lack of atmosphere. Breakfast is Buffet type and good enough. still, it's cheap, so good value for money.
