A comfortable hotel, but the main event is dinner. If booked to stay here, don't go elsewhere to dine. The breakfast was of the quality that reflects the fact that the kitchen and dining room are the central parts of the operation and the hotel is something of an adjunct (albeit a very well run one). My wife and I have been interested in the German Bauhaus movement and wanted to visit Weimar where the movement had it's beginnings. We stayed at the Alt Weimar hotel during our stay. When we first arrived at the hotel in early afternoon, our room wasn't ready, so we stored our bags with the reception and headed out to the... More

Booked 2 rooms and stayed 1 night. I've been in Weimar before, stayed in other villa style hotels for less but decided to give this hotel a try. I found the young hotel staff professional but cold, bordering arrogant and must have been other personel than what the other reviewers had. My business partner and I both had trouble with... More

Stayed 3 nights during a travel to a conferance. Very nice rooms, cozy and comfortable. Clean bath rooms. Thankful for the uncarbonated water given daily. Breakfast was very nice. Staff was very friendly and nice. Two shortcomings noted, some of the staff members were not able to communicate in English. But the most worrysome one for me was that all... More

I arrived unannounced at this hotel having driven from Rotterdam. I got a warm fun welcome, and received a clean comfortable room. I intended walking down town to eat, but the receptionist convinced me to eat dinner at the hotel. Was I lucky I took her advice, my meal was superb, light, tasty with excellent service. The hotel is based... More

I loved this hotel. I fell head over heals for it as soon as I drove up to it on a pretty tree-lined street. It was just artsy enough to feel congruous with the cultural epicenter of Weimar, without feeling cheap or like they were trying to hard to be trendy. All of the public spaces were very pretty, and... More

Some hotels you just do like and some you just forget. Alt-Weimar was a hotel which I liked. The old building (once the home of the founder of the “Steiner School”) is full of atmosphere. The big windows, the corridors and the magnificent restaurant were to my liking. The breakfast was also very good. But the room was a bit... More

Hotel rooms are very simple (Bauhaus style) but nice and clean. Very nice breakfast with fresh produce and eggs freshly prepared in your preferred fashion. The restaurant is very nice and has a typical cosy German atmosphere through its wood panelling and the black and white photos from days gone by. Food is of a slightly higher than average standard...
