I had my fourth trip to Vejer and third consecutive stay at Escondrijo in June. It is a really special place - not easy to describe the chilled atmosphere, the loveliness of Netty and Nigel and the enormous sadness you feel every time you leave. I took my sister as a treat and she fell in love with the town... more

The owners of this hotel (B&B) have just moved back in with their 2nd baby, so there are now only 2 rooms available. Our room was beautiful inside, but the best bit was the roof terrace, which had gorgeous views of the town, the valley and the sunrise/sunset. Breakfast was brought to our room each morning and was delicious. The... more

We stayed at Escondrijo for four nights at the tail end of our honeymoon in September 2007. We absolutely loved the place - from the location (down an alley in a maze of little streets) to the interior, which feels as if it has been hewn from the rock in parts. Nigel and Netty were extremely friendly and laid on... more

We stayed here for two nights and absolutely loved it. It's the perfect romantic hideaway. The hotel has been immaculately and stylishly restored and everything has been thought of. The roof terrace had amazing views over the countryside and we loved having a glass of wine up there watching the sun set before going out to dinner. Breakfast was delicious... more

I can see why another reviewer suggested that is it just the right side of shabby but I think that 'shabby' doesn't do justice to what i found to be very tasteful rustic charm with much more character than other less 'shabby' places I've stayed. I especially liked the abundance of books, music and drinks! at guests disposal. We opted... more

Just signing in to report on our trip to escondrijo and thought I must have got the wrong place from the last review, I didn't recognise it. We came after reading about it in Mr and Mrs Smith -someone got me the book to scout for places for our honeymoon next year, although there are only a handful of places... more

We decided to stay at the Hotel Escondrijo after reading rave reviews in Trip Advisor and Conde Nast. Here is our experience. The Hotel is located at the top of a steep hill and is not recommended for elderly people who have walking problems or people with walking problems generally. The hotel is decorated in Moroccan style. There are lots... more

This is an extemely stylish hotel which is decorated to a very high standard. We stayed here for 3 nights in room I (the suite with the hammock). The room was huge - one of the nicest I have ever stayed in. The hammock was very relaxing. Throughout the hotel there were nice little touches such as access to an... more

We stayed here for two nights in April at the end of our trip and had an amazing time. Vejer is a great place to stay to explore the province of Cadiz being only 45 minutes from Jerez de la Frontera and the city of Cadiz and within a 10 minute drive from the coast (El Palmar beach). Friends had... more

With a baby on the way in July, we were determined our final holiday as a footloose and fancy free couple would be relaxing, luxurious and even a little decadent. Thanks to the wonderful hospitality of Netty and Nigel at Escondrijo in Vejer, our week-long break easily surpassed our hopes and expectations. We stayed in the newly opened Room V... more
