Highly recommended rural apartments in the village of Almonaster La Real, less than 2 hours drive from Seville. Renting apartments like this is always something of a gamble, especially in winter, but they had been recommended to us by a friend from Huelva and we were not disappointed. There is a wood-burning stove, electric heating in every room, enough space to feel comfortable, a good restaurant opposite, abundant hot water in the shower, and just about enough equipment to do your own cooking. Some things could be improved (such as the lack of hot water in the kitchen) but overall the price is right, the owners friendly, and we were sad to leave after 4 nights. The village has character, several bars and small shops, a beautiful rural mosque, and is set in very attractive countryside (La Sierra de Aracena) with many excellent walks (car needed – rent from Seville Airport).
