Our guidebook places this hotel alongside the Parador, " how to choose between them?".
We phoned in the morning to confirm our reservation and arrival time, but when we arrived the place was locked-up and no-one answered our calls.
When we finally checked-in an hour or so later we had to carry our bags around the elegant courtyard and up several flights of stair to a far-distant room, although it seemed we were the only guests.
The room was freezing. The electricity in part of the building including the stairs and lobby to our room did not work.
We expected more life in the restaurant which also received good comments in the guidebook. In deference to our host we sat without our overcoats although the place was just as cold.. We were the only guests again. The food was unremarkable and a big disappointment as our last meal of the holiday. The only high point was a fine and interesting white wine at 15€ (a Rueda I think).
