Stayed 3 nights in May, 2013. Old 5 star hotel well maintained but needs updating. Clean but old furnishings. Light had burned out bulbs and some broken things in the room. Beautiful view and quiet neighborhood. Breakfast was closer to a 3 star rating. Front desk was friendly and helpful.

Great old place. Only complaint was that the turkish spa is closed on Sunday afternoons, and this was the only reason we had decided to stay here after a day of cycling. Breakfast buffet is fantastic.

We paid a small supplement on our Brittany Ferries package to stay at the Hotel Real. It was excellent value. Without exception the staff were friendly and the service was top-notch. Nothing more amazing than arriving at Hotel Real, built almost 100 years ago to host the court and the aristocracy accompanying His Majesty Alfonso XIII when having holidays in Santander.
