I had found the website and liked the location, at the western extremities of Burgos. The long early morning walk from city centre to outskirts is a psychologically exhausting stretch, who has a long day ahead. At the edge of the Parque el Parral, this would save the half-hour from the city centre.
I arrived at the hotel after a long trek from Atapuerca, trudging through the industrial outskirts east of Burgos. It is in an old stone building, renovated and comfortable, but of a welcoming scale. The young man at the reception had received my request for a legislation and, in relaxed and very capable English, did the paperwork and found me a room (35 Euro) overlooking the Hermitage of Saint Amaro to the south.
The room itself was spare but comfortable and quite clean. The bathroom was quite small, but sufficed. I had my afternoon meal in the restaurant below and the menu de dia (10 Euro) was tasty and of good value. It's apparent (and in a good way) that the...
