Great location, rooms just ok, room service good, staff very helpful, NO LIFT! and we were on 4th floor! it is a real hike!, ...and if you are gay....I would reccomend this hotel!!! more

Average in every way, although not cheap. Best feature is the location , in the old Gothic area of the city. However, the room was small & dingy, with a window overlooking a dirty yard to the rear of the hotel. Worst feature by far was the bed: Long , sleepless nights spent to a cacophany of old metal springs.... more

We stayed at the hotel for 6 days. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful (particularly after my pocket was picked...be careful in BCN,,,watch for the bird poop scam). They were always ready to offer us helpful information. The staff seemed to care about their job and about their clients. We were impressed. Yes the room and bathroom were small.... more

I had two really nice nights at Hotel California for 50 euros a night. I can't really fault the hotel, lovely staff, simple rooms but everything is very clean. We arrived before our cruise 11/7/2008 and stayed for one night and upon return stayed 11/15 and 11/16. Our dealings with the staff (in English) was prompt and truthful. They quoted the room rate in Euros and gave the total including taxes and fees. There was never a question about the rate when we arrived. So helpful and service oriented.... more

Great location in heart of Barri Gotic and 200 metres to Las Ramblas and Liceu metro station. It was basic with small rooms but that was what we expected given the price. Functional with decent breakfast, friendly staff and importantly no hiccups in any way. The location is the main selling point. more
