We stayed in Hostal Mapoula for three nights, at the beginning of a tour of eastern Spain and Portugal. The Ryanair bus from the airport terminates at Praza de Galicia, literally 25 metres from the entrance to the hotel, so would be very convenient for those considering a short break in this attractive city.

Hostal Mapoula is within an easy 5-10 minute walk of all major attractions and sights. It is on the third floor of a retail block, but thankfully the elevator worked well throughout our stay. Rooms are clean, but small and basic; ours looked onto a nondescript inner courtyard.

Beds were comfortable and I slept well, except for one of the three nights when there was noticeable late night activity and associated noise. The shower over the bathtub in the en suite had very high sides, which may make it difficult to use for less able guests.
