Our stay at Hotel Altair was great. Very nicely renovated hotel, walking distance to everything you would want to see, including restaurants they recommended which were outstanding. Very helpful staff, good breakfast, good recommendations. Their sister hotel is a block away (Costa Vella) and has a nice garden to have a coffee or drink in. We very much enjoyed our... more

The Altair is a small hotel, but its looks can fool you. Me and my husband stayed in a ground floor which had its own 'gazebo', very quiet, adorable and relaxing, where we could read and unstring from our long and pleasant walks. The staff is absolutely amiable and attentive. The girls at the front desk would explain and suggest... more

I found this hotel in Tripadvisor. It was chosen as the 1st favourite hotel in Santiago de Compostela. Now I understand why... Although it was a bit hard to find it, since all streets in Santiago are narrow, confusing and all look the same, once we found it, it was like finding an oasis. No exaggeration. The welcome was very... more

If you use google for the map to Hotel Altair it is a little confusing, i remember reading a post regarding parking at the la salle car park and that the hotel was situated one block from The Boqueria des Roques. We managed to use these 2 points to find the hotel rather the map! Upon arriving the staff were very... more

Hotel Altair is really fantastic small Hotel, one of our favorites on a month long trip and an excellent value. The "centro urbano" of Santiago is rather small, so everything is close by, but the Hotel is not in the "heart" of the cathedral area.. Also, We had a room on the first floor right by the street and it... more

Fed up of the chains - this hotel is for you. Recently refurbished in good style. Quiet neighbourhood close to the main cathedral. Breakfast seems almost like staying at a B&B. However, I must warn of a pretty noisy elevator so if you are a light sleeper, and go early to bed, you will probably wake up when the late... more

We were staying at the sister property (Hotel Costa Vella) a half-block away, but had a major noise issue with our room, so they got us a room here. We stayed for two nights in this nice boutique hotel. We had a spacious loft room which I would characterize as 4-star in quality. The lobby and room decor and furniture... more

We stayed at the Hotel Altair and absolutely loved it! It is a gem of a place, great location, wonderful remodel of a very old building and everything done to perfection. Public sitting area limited but comfortable enough, breakfast room large and well run. Room was very nice, had a lovely French door with small balcony, very bright and airy,... more

Hotel Altair is a 3-star hotel deserving at least 4-stars for service. We arrived on an early evening and were greeted by Patricia as if we were close friends - staff here was unbelievably friendly and really NICE! This was a really nice change from the impersonal, large hotels we stayed in during our trip throughout Spain. The service is... more
