After a terrible experience in “villa” La Paloma (see separate review), we moved to the lovely Hotel Gacelas. The hotel is 10-15 mins walk to the centre of the village. There is an outside pool with beautiful views to the mountains, a games room and a restaurant listed in the Michelin guide. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean. There is no air conditioning, but a portable tower fan which was fine (very quiet and powerful). The staff at the hotel were extremely pleasant and helpful and the manager gave us a really good rate – 90 euros per night for a quad room.
Breakfast was traditional continental – pastries, juice, fruit, meats, yoghurt plus tea and coffee. The food in the restaurant itself was delicious, although be warned – the restaurant staff speak NO English!
When we were there (early July), we had the pool virtually entirely to ourselves, apart from one weekend when the hotel was pretty busy. Easy-listening music is played out to the pool...
