Stayed here 1 night in july, driving through Spain towards Cadiz. This hotel should have on the most 4 stars, perhaps only 3 . Chech in was VERY slow, should be quick as presenting a Melia Mas card, with all personal details.Front desk staff-stiff. There was no extra pillows in the room,no robes,no slippers,no special amenities that you normally find in a 5 star hotel... more

The Melia Castilla is nothing special. I like the old antiquey style it has, with traditional style furnishings and decoration. When you enter the hotel it has quite nice feel to it in the lobby, and the large well furnished corridors make it look and feel like a 5*, but the feeling ends there. Room: It wasn't particularly impressive, decor... more

Even though this is a 5-star hotel you can tell that it needs renovation. It's easy to reach from the airport with a taxi, only a 15-20 minutes drive (cost about 25 euros). The bathtub was looking so old that you prefer just to take a shower but not a bath. The rooms are clean. For leisure I would choose... more

This a hotel I first stayed in nearly twenty years ago. I was concerned that it might be a bit frayed after this time. I was wrong. This hotel has a good standard of decor and is very clean. The rooms are much better than I recalled. They are very large and the beds are firm but comfortable. The black... more

This is a large, urban hotel, with the amenities you'd expect from an international chain like Meliá. It has a good location in the north side of Madrid, close to the Chamartin train station. It has no fewer than 5 restaurants, so food is not a problem. The problem however, appears to be service. The front desk staff was aloof... more

I stayed in this hotel as part of a large conference in June. The conference rooms were pretty good but the rest of the hotel failed to live up to its billing. The rooms were dark and unloved and certainly not good enough for a hotel at this price level. There was an air of dustiness about the corridors and... more

If you want a three stars hotel for a price of a five, this is your place. Terrible smell in the rooms to not mention the bar: get in for five minutes and you'll smell cigarette for the rest of your stay. Air conditioning is in fact air at one condition: hot as hell. No way to change it. Room... more

Location is fine, close to the metro and the bus line (#27) that will take you to the Prado. The rooms were small but reasonably clean. It was a fine experience but by no means 5 star or even 4 star. The food was about what you'd expect, nothing spectacular. No wireless in the rooms but they do have high... more

This was to be the capstone of our 2 week trip to Portugal and Spain. I treated us to a 5 star hotel in Spain; but the hotel is NOT 5 star quality. I had let the hotel know by email that we would be late and needed another bed and 2 twin beds, not a king. When we arrived,... more

Stayed here for 2 nights in Jul 08. Location is fairly good thou trying to find it from Melia Castilla metro station is a little difficult. The hotel was extremely busy when I stayed. The rooms were clean, nicely presented & very quiet! The pool area is very small. I could not stay by the pool as it was full.... more
