Hostal Dulcinea was a good choice for a first night in Madrid. It took about 45 minutes to get to via the Metro from the airport and, despite 2 train changes and a brief walk from the Anton Martin metro stop, it was easy to find. The room was small (as are most in this class in Europe) but clean... more

The hostal is in a great location and is clean and the owners are really nice but no little English, so make sure to brush up on your English in advance, it helps! The only complaint is that he "shhh" my friend and I one night at 11:30 PM which was kind of creepy especially since we weren't being that... more

Close to the Prado and the 2 other top museums in Madrid. 2 blocks from all the top hotels. The owners are very nice. Would stay there again, definitely. Very safe, good security. Building has lots of character. more

Hostal Dulcinea was quite an adventure. As you arrive you will notice construction going on and a very old creaky building that you must enter to get into the hostal. However as you take the elevator to the 3rd floor you begin to understand tha value of this hostal. The hostal is well situated on a very quiet street equally... more

Getting there from the airport was a nightmare on the metro as you have to change trains three times just to get to Anton Martin and even then there is a 5 min walk. We were a bit suprised by the entrance of the hostal as it looked very old fashioned with wooden staircases and a old school looking lift... more

First of all what was excellent in this hostal: rooms very clean and made up as soon as you go out for breakfast, central position even not easy to reach from airport (anton martin station is quite far away you need to walk ascent), quite street - no noise during the night, help from Ana in booking airport shuttle, 3... more

We stayed 5 nights the Hostal Dulcinea and it is a very convenient base for seeing the city as well as taking trips out of town, just a short walk to the Antocha train station and Avis. We took the train to Seville from there and picked up the rental car the same spot for a day trip to Segovia.... more

Basic pension in central Madrid. We paid 48 euros/night for a double with bathroom - no breakfast. Room was clean but very basic. Owners speak very little English but are very nice. Location is very good for most attractions. more

We stayed 2 nights the hotel Dulcinea in the end of May 2004, we had booked the room 2 months in advance using recommendations from this site. The owners Jose and Maria were very nice, the fact that we spoke spanish made our conversations very easy during our stay. They had also given us good recommendations for getting from the... more

This hostal is cheap enough by Madrid standards, and pretty clean, but the walls are quite thin -- conversations next door could be easily heard. So easy that it was possible to hear somebody "shhushing" us when we were talking a little too loud one night. more
