Shockingly awful stay. We'd been here before in 2001 when the hotel was under different management. Then it was quirky and fun. The second time around was awful. It was a building site - live wires, drilling and hammering at 7.30am, no lifts working, blocked loo. We had to use our mobile as a torch to see us to our... more

Unless being based in the heart of Madrid'd nightlife is your main objective, I'd recommend spending a little extra and staying at one of the hotels more highly rated in Trip Advisor. I found the Hotel Monaco recommended in the Time Out guide and in the British Guardian" newspaper. I took a fair bit of effort trying to book it... more

Wow...what a funky little place...great location...and freindly staff made my stay great...i loved the funky-ness of this hotel but the funkyness is masked by the place´s general run down atmoshpere...be preparred for antique furniture and cracking walls...but enjoy the crazy fixures and massive mirrors in each room...mine had a mirror above the bath tub and surrounding the bed...the price was... more
