A very shabby hotel.....terrible rooms...very small rooms....though clean....The hotel room gets a lot of noise from the streets all through the night.....I think better options available for the same price. more

My partner and I stayed at Hotel Francisco for 3 nights at €45 a night - granted we were put into a superior room apparently but it was more like a 3star than 2 star as advertised. We were on the 1st floor but werent particular disturbed by the pedestrian street outside and renovations which were ongoing and at a... more
Yes, it is in renovation and it might be inconvenient for somebody, but me and a friend we stayed with liked it a lot. Mainly for the stuff, ready to help, open emotionally and very very caring. We liked the location (very centric), we liked the new renovated room with its modern design and the view. the breakfast is totally... more
Only had a couple of nights to see Madrid so wanted to be very central ( and this hotel is). It is being renovated ( I mean serious reconstruction, very disconcerting so see major chunks of the walls from floor below disapear and extremely noisy) Room tiny, but clean ,no frills at all, this is very barely two star. Breakfast... more
The only advantage I can think of is hotel's location. Apart from that, it is a disaster. Old, stinky, and dirty rooms, awful breakfast (only pastry), disguisting bathrooms. I wouln't recommend it to anyone. more
This hotel is ideally placed on a pedestrian street between the Puerta del Sol and the Opera house. The Plaza Mayor and the Real Palace are both within 5 minutes walk as are some of the many tapas bars and restaurants. The hotel is basic, but comfortable and exceptionally clean with friendly and polite staff. The rooms are of reasonable... more
Location is excellent.... Everything within walking distance.... Top floor of the hotel has just been renovated, and I'd recommend you to request a room up there.... However, bathrooms are see-through (v.European according to porter)..... But much more up-to-date than older rooms..... Rooms were old-fashioned, but clean which is the main thing.... Staff weren't unpleasant, they were ignorant..... Madrid is a... more
ok, so its a 2 star hotel. but its not bad. there are large cracks in all the walls in the hotel, i thought it was just in my room. but they are everywhere, i was in room 429 which is only a room, the bathroom/shower in down the hall and down another hall, so its inconvenient. a good location... more
Having just got back from 3 nights in this beautiful city I just had to write a review for this hotel as I always read them before booking any hotels and we have been on a lot of European city breaks in the last 3 years. This hotel had the best location being on a pedestrianised street (even though our... more
We arrived back this morning, after a fabulous weekend. There's so much to do - and we couldn't fit everything in during just a couple of days... so we'll be heading back soon to do a bit more... and a bit more... and a bit more... Stayed at the Francisco I in Calle Arenal, which is halfway between the Sol... more
