We found the Hostal La Perla Asturiana to be everything good that we had read in Trip Adviser. It has no food available, but drinks could be ordered. However, all you had to do was walk out the hostal entrance into the square and there were three cafes within a few yards, all offering a good selection of drinks and... more

I stayed there for 4 nights in Feburary 2009. A single room with private bathroom and a view to the piazza. the rate was 40 euro/night. The location was excellent as it was only one-minute away from Plaza Mayor, the centre of Madrid. The hostal was also very close to Plaza de Sol and the metro. It was centrally located... more

This hostel is in the heart of old Madrid an on a excellent location. Perfect to stay if you come back from yor outside and tired to go lay down on a good and clean room with excelent service a litle bit small but nice, with comfortable bed. The bathroom with bath and shower was good. Staff was very polite... more

I have stayed there at least 8 times over the last 4 years and will continue to do so. I have been there with my husband, and with my children and also with my family and parents and had no problems on any of the occasions. Some of the rooms are a little on the small side but they serve... more

This is a small quiet hotel, which is perfectly situated close to Plaza Mayor without the expense. It takes 5 minutes to the metro at Sol.Yes, the rooms are small, but they are very clean and tended to daily. The staff were very helpful. It isn't a 5 star hotel, so visitors shouldn't expect 5* standard! In Madrid you are... more

Stayed for a 3 night weekend break and found this hostal to be excellent value. We paid 160€ for 3 nights in a double room with private bathroom. Our room was small and quite dated decoration wise, the bathroom was the smallest I've ever seen but it was very clean and the maids came every morning, cleaned it and put... more

As others have said, this is in a convenient location. The room was terrible. The window which didn't close all the way or lock at all, overlooked the back of a restaurant, so my room smelled of old cooking grease. There were at least 3 signs in my room stating that they were not responsible for valuables, I realize this... more

I organised the accommodation for my friends which is always a scare incase its bad but we were mildly impressed. It does depend what you want as the hostel is not grand by any means and the rooms are small and possible need a lick of paint... but the rooms are tidy, staff pleasent and what it lacks in stature... more

As noted by other reviewers, this hotel is in an excellent location, a few steps from the Plaza Mayor and a few minutes from the Puerto del Sol. Attractions such as the Prado and the Palacio Real are also within walking distance. The rooms and bathrooms are quite small, but clean and with adequate storage space. Reception staff were friendly... more

Excellent location, in the heart of old Madrid. Perfect for someone who will spend all day outside and come back tired to sleep. The room with high ceilings was small, but nice, clean and with comfortable bed. The bathroom with bath and shower was good. Staff was very polite and helpful and most spoke good English. more
