The best experience I've ever had in a youth hostel: central position, nice people at the reception, and a marvellous atmosphere! people meet at los amigos and go out together!! So nice! Clean and nice rooms, a mad living room with music and books.. The best solution for friends who want to find friends! Really friendly atmosphere. Closed to the... more

Location is great, near Opera, near Sol, near Plaza Mayor. But the building is a bit hard to find. No 26 consists of several buildings together. So, the door next to no 24 isn't 26. Look very carefully. Located on the 4th floor makes the room quiet, but still accessible. However, it is too quiet and unlike what is described... more

Right near Opera metro station on Calle Arenal, close to Plaza Mayor. Mixed sex rooms didn't bother me, funny arrangement with shower stalls in mixed sex bathroom. Needs a bigger common room and the breakfast was small: crunchy bread and corn flakes. Worth the 20 euro I paid. more

This place was terrible. The beds had bed bugs, the bathroom and toilets were a disgrace. Free breakfast consisted of some bread and cereal. Staff were not very helpful or pleasant. It was also one of those hostels were you had to pay for EVERYTHING. Pay a deposit for the sheets??? How about getting rid of that deposit and replacing... more

I can't even begin to describe what an absolute horror it was to stay here. Having booked a mini break with 5 girl mates from around the UK we wanted a clean, friendly hostel in good location. This seemed perfect. How wrong were we. They messed our booking up from the start even though i booked it with 2 weeks... more

I stayed in Los Amigos (Sol) for 3 nights in November. It had everything you could ask for in a hostel (except for free internet, which is unlike most of the hostels we stayed at). The beds were probably the most comfortable of all the hostels I stayed in on my trip. The lockers were big enough for my backpack.... more

PROS: The location of Los Amigos ( Sol) was first of all excellent. It was a good sight-seeing base and was walking distance from many sights in Madrid. My room had a balcony so you could look down on the busy streets which was great. Location also seemed safe for late night walking around in Madrid. CONS: Men and women... more

I traveled with a friend to Spain in the summer of 2007. Madrid was our first stop and we decided to stay at Los Amigos hostel. This was a very nice stay. The place is really well situated in the center of the city. 5 minutes walk to Puerta del Sol, Gran Via, Opera, Palace and Plaza Mayor. Also near... more
