Me and my partner had a four day trip to Madrid in July of this year. We were wary of city centre hotels abroad as we booked for Rome last year and ended up miles out of the city !!!. Not this time. The Ganivet was roughly 10 mins walk from the City Centre with a Metro stop literally at... more

After reading other reviews on this hotel, I found them to be right on the money. Great location to Metro ( 5 green line) and the Madrid Vision Tour Bus (Stop 3 on the Historical Route). The rooms where just as avertised. Will return and recommend this hotel to anyone who visits Madrid. more

Recently refurbished hotel near Puerta del Toledo. Good sized rooms with nice bathroom, beds comfy too. We stayed for two nights at end of April. Most of the photos you see on websites seem to be the hotel before it was refurbished. Nice communal areas with sofas in reception along with cafeteria. All areas were very clean. Also had free... more

We've just returned from a 4 day trip to Madrid and we loved this hotel. i would rate it as Excellent if it wasn't the fact that we booked a triple room and the room became too small for 3adults. But as a double, the space is more than enough. the bathroom is okay. the location is great, near Puerta... more

Really great hotel in a central location very close to the Toledo metro stop. The hotel is not as it may appear on many websites as it has had a full re-fit last year and is really rather nice (some sites have some very old photos which no longer apply as the Ganivet is now under the ownership of Porcel... more

Excellent value for money. Great Location (1 km from Plaza Mayor), very clean (bed and bath). Perfect 2 * hotel. Lift does not always work -- that is the only downside. more

Not a good hotel. Ok it is a 2 star, but it is not clean (found hair in my bed sheets), an scaring elevator, which sometimes was not working, and poor furniture. Heating system was not enough and the room was cold. Also not very good breakfast. The only good things were the staff and the location. I would rather... more

Excellent staff, location and price. Great spit and sawdust tapas bar opposite too, especially if you like your snails curried. Only quibble is that the building is showing its age (i.e. 1950s) and its acoustics are typical. The tiled corridors echo through thin doors and plumbing can generate white noise of an alarming intensity. more

I stayed in the Finesterre twice with a few months. Once for three nights last September on a girlie long weekend and again in March on a long weekend with my mother. The hotel is clean but basic. Not very sound proof so the inconsiderate guests arriving back in the early hours of the morning kept waking us up. Ideal... more

We just returned froma trip to Europe. We'd stayed for 19 nights at the Finisterre and greatly enjoyed it. The room was simple but comfortable, although the bathroom can use some form of ventilation. The provision of a clothes iron would also would had been useful. The staff were wonderful, both the cafeteria and cleaning staff. Location can't be beat... more
