Location couldn't be bettered for walking round Madrid. Rooms are good quality and very good value. We found the staff to be friendly. As ever with hostals the ground floor entrance is a bit gloomy but the room was clean and bright. This was a fabulous little hotel. The location couldn't be bettered - in a quiet square only 5 mins walk to Plaza Major. Rooms are colourful, spotlessly clean, quiet and well equipped. It isn't luxurious but for the price I can't fault at all. more

Hostal Cruz Sol was perfectly fine for our purposes. The bathroom was very small but the hostal is conveniently located near Plaza Mayor, and we had no problem getting in and out. (The elevator is ridiculously small, FYI.) The staff spoke nearly no English, but our mediocre Spanish was enough to get by. more

Thanks to previos reviewers booked this Hostal for a four day break in Madrid. From check-in to check-out could not fault it. This hostal is very, very basic. Pros: Clean and a decent location. Cons: Tiny, very hot room. The hostal is not air conditioned, the window did not open, and there was not a fan.
