My wife and I stayed in this quiet located hostel for 5 nights. Very centrally located, 200 meters from Opera metro (Plaza Isabel II) and also close to Sol metro. The hostel is situated in the third floor of a palazzo (block of flats) reached by a small lift. The common area of the apartments is being decorated, so do... more

It is located in the center of Madrid, so close to the metro station. But the most important properties of the hotel are the hospitality of women (I think they are the owners), their smiling faces and the cleanness. You can feel as if you are in your own house. more

I'm not sure the person who rated the Hostal Luz as "the worst place'' they ever stayed is talking about the same Hostal Luz. First of all, this is not a hostel, it's a hostal, the difference being that a hostal is like a pensione, not a youth hostel. There are two types of rooms - those with shared baths... more

I went to this place, encouraged by all the positive reviews on tripadvisor. Wow, what a huge mistake! I have stayed in many hostels, but this one was the most hostile to breathing, or to sleeping, for that matter. You actually do get your own room, unlike most hostels, where you share bunks. So it is more like a hotel... more

My new husband and I, by a fluke, last minute booked this hostel and seriously had low expectations. It turned out to be an amazing surprise. The hostel staff were so friendly and booked us into a room that was more appropriate for our honeymoon/backpack trip. The location couldn't be better and the rooms were cleaned daily and the computers... more

So I had a little trouble finding it, but once I got inside, Hostal Luz turned out to be a gem of a place to hang my hat for a few days in the awesome city of Madrid. I would recommend it to anyone! It's in a great central location near all kinds of things and I'm talking within walking... more

The "hostel" is clean and in a great location, but is more like a hotel. In a sense that they have all private rooms and when we stayed here, they were filled with families. it is quite at night (3am-7am) when the children are sleeping, but if you have any desire to take part in the Madrid nightlife, you want... more

I went in Madrid for 3 night to "Hostal LUZ" and I very enjoyed the vacation in this hostal! In few words: located in the center, but in a quiet street (2 mitutes by walk to OPERA subuway) ; prices very convenient ; the rooms are new (small but honest) very clean, with air contidion, TV, good bath and bedclothest... more

We stayed at this hostal just for one night on our way to Andalusia. It is located on a very charming pedestrial strret Arenal- stretching between Opera and Sol. It is centrally located and easy to find. The hostess speaks very little English but makes up with a lot of gestures and sound effects, resulting in a very effective communication.... more

My friends and I loved staying here - so we did twice. We felt very safe here! The owners don't speak English, but don't let that stop you from staying here. I speak very little (still learning) and we were able to get by. The owners were so warm and friendly and willing to help you - especially telling us... more
