With temperatures in August in the high 80s, The Hostal El Globo makes an excellent choice for a beach/city holiday. Situated above a line of restaurants and bars at the end of the beach, close to the marina, it is in a great location if you are the kind of the person who likes to do city sightseeing in the morning, but spend the afternoon on the beach. Valencia 'old town' is several kilometres inland but can be easily reached (20 mins) by the the modern metro system with two stops within a 5 minute walk of the hotel. Although this is not a luxury hotel, it has recently been completely refurbished with new decorations and simple, modern furniture, air conditioning and up to date en suite facilities. Everything is bright and spotlessly clean. We paid extra for a sea-view room and enjoyed seeing great sun rises. The hotel is situated over a stylish bar named 'Vivar Sin Domir' (life without sleep) which attracts mainly young people. We are both in our 50s, but thoroughly enjoyed the bar... more
