This has to be among the most pleasant and beautiful hotels in Sorrento -- my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The Royal's location is stunning, perched on a cliff above the Bay of Naples (and an elevator down to its own private "beach" access.) Some of the best memories from our holiday are of sipping aperitifs and... more

We've stayed at the Royal twice now. Once in 2003 and again in 2005. We were half board both times. Our first stay was faultless. At the evening meal there was a varied salad buffet every evening. Once a week there was a fabulous and varied outdoor buffet on the terrace overlooking the Bay of Naples. However on our second... more

Advantages We seemed to be the only guests there, so super quiet. Included breakfast had small but delicious servings . Disadvantages Hot water took a longggg time to get going. We waited about 10-15 minutes for hot water. The hotel entrance sign says 4 stars, but really it is a 3 star hotel. more

I was really surprised to see reviews about the evening meals in this hotel being awful and "nothing special". To me the wonderful meals and fantastic waiting staff make this hotel. It's the reason we returned this year following our honeymoon last year. The room, once again, was cleaned to a high standard. Fantastic lovely sea view room (of course... more

We just returned home from our 7th stay at the Grand Hotel Royal and, as usual, we had a fabulous time. The professional and friendly staff are simply "THE BEST" and always make us feel at home...from the minute we book our room to the very last goodbyes. The Royal has a wonderful old-fashioned ambience combined with all the modern... more

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for most of our Honeymoon and greatly enjoyed our stay. We booked a room with partial sea views and so could see Versuvius and the bay from the balcony and the gardens which was great. The rooms with full sea views were quite a bit more expensive, but we were glad we... more

This place is very, very good. We had a double deluxe plus room; these have a good-sized balcony with views across the harbour and bay. I would absolutely recommend you do your best to book one of these; other types of room overlook a busy road or are at the side of the building with a bit of bay view... more

Stayed here for 12 nights following on from an 8 night stay in Taormina, Sicily and had a wonderful time. We are regular repeat guests (this was our second visit this year) and the experience lived up to all our expectations as always. The Hotel is ideally located just a short walk from the main Tasso Square, bus and train... more

As we couldn't get into The Antiche Mura, we looked for another hotel near to the Piazza Tasso. This was our prime reason for choosing The Royal. I cannot comment on the evening meals as we only booked bed and breakfast, to us, the main reason for visiting Sorrento is the wealth of interesting, excellent restaurants! However, the breakfasts were... more
