Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I cannot say enough great things about this hotel. It is situated in a little fishing village, away from the noise of the city. There are many steps to climb to get to Sorrento, which was ok for us, but the village also has a shuttle. The room was without a view, but we just slept there. You have the rooftop with the awesome view! The room was well supplied, and comfortable. Everything in the hotel is so up to date and well appointed. The tiles on the floor are beautiful. The breakfast grotto is wonderful, and the food so, so good! The best part of the hotel though, is the staff, from housekeepers, breakfast workers, and front desk staff. They were all so nice, and accommodating. They all work hard, and seem to enjoy their jobs. Attitude makes a difference! We had to check out 4 hours before our transfer came, and the front desk ladies stored our luggage while we walked around the village one last time, and visited the wonderful rooftop. If you want an affordable and clean hotel, Hotel del Mare is for you!

Wow…this place was excellent. The hotel was very clean, comfortable and the staff was friendly and very attentive to our needs. It’s located with in steps of the beach and board walk… there are several restaurant to choose from…two that you must try are Soul & Fish and the Risterante Taverna Azzura. Easy to catch a taxi and if you’re need to do wash close, there’s a laundry Matt up the street. Hands down this is a great place

Wonderful hotel, minutes from Marina Grande. Hotel staff outstanding, caring, & helpful. I did not encounter a single employee there that was not working extremely hard to care for the guests. Rooms are small, as expected, but meticulously clean. Location is near the beach. A bus stop is down there as well as grocery stores, deli, ATM, and many restaurants. Hotel front desk will arrange for almost anything you need, from ice to drinks on the roof desk to taxis

We absolutely loved staying here. The location couldn’t have been more perfect! It’s right around the corner from the Marina Grande beach. It’s about a 15 minute walk to the center of town where the shops and restaurants are. The sunsets every night were incredible and all the restaurants by the Marina were amazing. It also feels like a very local town and not touristy. Tony from the front desk was extremely helpful every day and would help with reserving our transportations, recommending restaurants, and overall making sure we were all okay! Would highly recommend staying here if you’re in Sorrento!

This hotel is located in grande marina which is a beautiful spot. 1 minute from the beach where you can hire sun beds and a 10 minute walk to sorrento up the steps nearby. Also a bus every 20 minutes which takes you to all the main spots in sorrento. Staff are all really friendly and helpful Breakfast is a good range of options and good coffee Beach towels can be hired daily for the beach Lots of great restaurants nearby and all responsibly priced The hotel was really clean the rooms are just a bit small but great for the price Terrace at the top of the hotel which is ideal to look at the views and have a drink up there There are sunbeds which is great if it’s not too hot as there is no pool Stayed twice and would return Thank you !

This is a well kept, clean and attractive hotel in a good location next to the marina area of Sorrento. The breakfast was very nice and overall we had a nice enough stay. Sadly there were several things that left a stain on the stay. Our dark room felt like it was in the basement, with a small window looking up onto an access path. The blind had to be closed all the time because we would have been exposed, so it was permanently without daylight. We purposely booked a room with a double bed and a single bed for our teenage son, but what we had was a double bed and a strange bunk bed which had the hard wooden base of the folded away top bunk covering the space above the bottom bunk. It meant if you sat up or moved your arms above you , you suffered bruising. We complained and was told that we booked a 'standard room', but this was sub-standard and not what we booked at all. No real concern or attempt to resolve it from reception, just trying to tell us it was what we booked. No...it wasn't! We also had noisy water pipes behind one wall. Overall it was a nice hotel but we were given the wrong room, and they would not admit they made a mistake. We would never have paid decent money for this. Also we booked a taxi to Positano which seemed very expensive but we trusted their judgement. Turned out there was a very heavy commission that was not disclosed. I gave a 3 star because the rest of the hotel is very nice and the breakfast very good.

This hotel was close on perfect for us, location wise you could get any better. The hotel was clean and of a very good standard, all the staff from the receptionists to the breakfast waitresses to the cleaners were a tribute to the hotel manager who was also a very nice man. We were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and the room were given made the trip…..the views from our window was a joy to look out on. Thank you Hotel del Mare

A lovely hotel around the corner from Marina Grande. The room is quite small but it is really clean and the staff are so friendly and helpful. The roof terrace is really nice with spectacular views. We had a lovely holiday at an affordable price.

Hotel is beautiful with a beautiful view. It’s a little hidden gem. The rooms are tiny but they keep this place immaculately clean. The tile work is beautiful. The staff are super kind. At first glance I thought how will we survive this tiny room with four of us. You aren’t in the room much just to sleep. They clean it perfectly. The whole hotel is so clean. They are particular. No flip flops down the stairs as they make to much noise ( we used our flip flops but we’re very careful not to make noise), no food on the rooftop ( no one is ever up there so we had it all to ourselves most of the time). No sand ( we tried our hardest- though we are right on the beach and have small kids but we tried to rinse off well at the showers on the beach). I was okay with the particulars that the hotel has as it does make for a cleaner experience. Very cute and very Italian. Literally 1 min walk to the beach and maybe 10-15 to piazza Tasso. 20 min from train station to hotel. We did walk that with our luggage and small children (7 of us) I Do NOT recommend attempting that as it was dangerous. I recommend getting a taxi or if you are just 2 adults with smaller luggage you can attempt. Views are beautiful. The beaches in sorrento are quite small and in order to get a spot you need to buy a chair or two (7 euros per chair per day) or they shun you to a sliver of a beach 5 min walk. Amalfi had the best beach area out of sorrento and positano and amalfi. Lots of fairly good restaurants within 5 min walk. The restaurants right on the beach are fisherman restaurants so very fresh and good seafood and past options. 24 hour bar at the hotel although we did not use it. The hotel did give us a map and explained how to get around. They booked a private taxi for us back to the airport. Good location and very clean.

The hotel is beautiful and colorful. A highlight of our experience besides the breakfast would be Tony, the night front desk receptionist He always made sure we were okay and always got us a cab for the next day. We love tony!
