Although it's a fair distance out of town, the Hotel Solara is a good base for visiting Sorrento so long as you're happy with waiting for the hourly free shuttle bus into and back from the centre. The staff make this hotel so enjoyable to stay in. Without being intrusive they make the visitor welcome and do everything possible to satisfy our wishes. We were staying at La Solara because of my grandparents anniversary and the hotel was brilliant. The food was good and on the gala dinner (Sundays) it was a 5 course meal! We were a party of 16, and without exception the staff, from the manager to the pool attendant and chambermaids, were very welcoming, courteous, friendly and professional.
