had checked reviews through trip advisor before booking, all in all reviews where pretty good. It is a nice hotel although is a bit generous to give it a four star, The staff where helpful and polite, we had booked halfboard, breakfast evening dinner. Breakfast as normal for european, no hot breakfast as per expected, evening dinner not that great,... more

Visited Sorrento (for a second time) in June 2008. Had previously stayed at a hotel which was a bus ride away so this time wanted something more central and (through First Choice) booked the Michelangelo Hotel mainly for that reason. We were not disappointed. The location is perfect, being about a five minute stroll from the centre (Piazzo Tasso). It... more

After a week in Sorrento we are sorry to leave! The hotel was brilliant, the staff couldnt do enough to help you, the waiters were lovely (look out for the "save-it-for-breakfast" waiter). Unlucky if you get a front room, we had on, barely slept all week with the noise from outside. The food was lovely, especially the dessert, but the... more

We stayed a the Michelangelo as a last minute booking & therefore had to settle for the last available rooms, the room was very spacious & cleaned every day with fresh towels etc. the only downside was our view of the train line & station from our balcony. We didn't let this spoil our stay though as the windows were... more

Stayed at this hotel last week and from beginning to end it was a fabulous experience. Staff always smart, pleasant and helpful. Small swimming pool and sunny roof terrace, spacious restaurant and bar. Ideal situation, very close to the train station and the centre of Sorrento, nice and level walking for our evening promenades. Food generally good although catered for... more

Hotel was almost full-good atmosphere. Only minor complaint-the food in the restaurant. Otherwise very good. The barman, Guisseppi,a Liverpool FC supporter was brilliant. Tell him you are from Liverpool and you'll get great service. Sorrento is a fantastic town. We are going back to Sorrento next year, and the Michelangelo (f we can afford ir!)as it is close to the... more

The welcome was superb, the room was superb (514), the building was superb and the whole 6 night stay over Christmas was superb. This hotel was beautifully decorated with Christmas angels and trees inside and out and fresh flowers were placed in the foyer and reception area. Everywhere was spotlessly clean especially the room with fresh white sheets every day... more

I decided to spend my 60th birthday in Sorrento at the Michelangelo where, as a traveller on her own, I always receive such a friendly welcome... other hotels in Sorrento just can't compare. My birthday was special (as I hoped it would be) and after lunch with friends I discovered a bottle of champagne waiting in my room (the not... more

I have stayed at the Michelangelo on many occasions and can never find any fault. It is spotless, cleaned thoroughly each day by the friendly maids. The location is great, only 5 minutes or so from Piazza Tasso. It doesn't have a sea view which may put some people off but with so many places to sit and admire the... more

Liked the location and found it very convenient for wandering around Sorrento and catching a train or bus to other locations. Room was clean and comfortable but the heating option was not available during our stay, which we could have done with due to the chilly evenings! Surprised to find the hotel had no car park for our hire car,... more
