Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hotel Rex is a great hotel in a fantastic location. Rooms are clean and the staff are super friendly and helpful. It is in a lovely old building with tons of character. You can walk to most places in Napoli from here. I will stay here again when I return to Napoli.

I had a really hard time choosing a hotel in Naples because the reviews were so bad for seemingly any property that wasn't a luxury brand. We settled on Hotel Rex and I'm very glad we did. This little hotel is in a great, walkable, waterfront location. The staff are welcoming and helpful, and the rooms were perfectly comfortable. We only stayed one night before flying out of Naples Airport, but if returning to Naples, we would absolutely stay there again. Hotel Rex looks pretty close to the ferry terminal on a map, but because of where you dock it took us about 20 minutes to walk there. The sidewalks in this part of Naples are bumpy, like cobblestones, so it was a slow, hot walk struggling to pull suitcases. Just take a cab-- there are plenty. This part of Naples is really nice, though. You're right along the waterfront with a pretty view, many hotels, restaurants, and shops. It's scenic, with families out strolling. We arrived in the morning, and the hotel happily stored our bags for the day so we could visit Pompeii. It was a quick cab ride to the train station (Circumvesuviana), and then an easy train ride to Pompeii. When we returned, tired from the outing, the hotel staff checked us in quickly and brought us our bags. We were on the ground level, right off the lobby, which was great for us, since we were leaving very early the next morning. The room was comfortable and air conditioned. We asked the staff member at the desk to recommend a great pizza place nearby. She suggested Gino Sorbillo, which was a 10 minute walk down the waterfront. This was a very good recommendation -- the pizza was incredible. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Rex and highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Naples. It was easy to get to the ferry, the train station, Pompeii, and the airport from here. The area is lovely and safe.

The hotel is perfectly located close to the city and close to the lungomare and everything about it works perfectly. It’s a small friendly comfortable hotel that genuinely cares about its guests. Before we arrived we had a number of questions that were answered by email almost immediately, taxi booked and waiting for us at the airport and from then on it was as smooth and comfortable as it could be. The front of house team are helpful, professional, efficient and show genuine warmth and friendliness , Linda is a standout but they were all great, including the night team. Breakfast is generous and varied, everyday different Italian cakes plenty of pastries and cheese and fruit and the breakfast team are brilliant at replenishing the buffet and enabling people to be seated quickly even when we all come down at the same time. Isaac particularly was brilliant at scanning the room and managing everything speedily and unobtrusively. A real star. Housekeeping too, quick and unobtrusive. Lovely bed linen. It’s the type of place you wish you could stay in in every city Thank you to you all there.

A great hotel in an ideal location, just a few metres from the sea front. Perfect for a city break. Within walking distance of many of the important sites in this magnificent city. Very friendly staff. Quiet at night, so very relaxing. Hopefully, we will be back.

Hotel Rex was the 5th hotel we stayed at in Italy. We were on the ground floor which we were concerned about but the windows are well protected against the street noise. Although this is a mid-range hotel it is very elegant and clean. When we reached the hotel we were welcomed by Linda who made us feel immediately at home. The breakfast is lovely. The location is ideal because it is easy to reach from the train station and we were able to walk to great restaurants. Very much recommend. If possible, ask for a second floor but first floor is doable.

Our previous stay in Naples was in the busy historic centre. We were a bit frazzled after that, so very relieved on our return leg to be staying nearer to the port, where you got the benefit of the sea breeze and a more peaceful environment (as well as a wonderful view of Vesuvius from our window). The room was clean and spacious, and staff attentive and very professional. We were thrilled by breakfast, which offered a wide range of fruit, cereals, juices, savouries and traditional Neapolitan cakes. Great coffee made to order. This hotel is in an expensive area to stay, but because it isn't directly on the sea front the rates are far more reasonable. Will definitely return.

We chose this hotel because it was reasonably priced and had good reviews. It is in a nice part of Naples near the sea and port and is only a 10 minute walk to the Spanish Quarter. The hotel has really lovely employees who can’t do enough for you and want to make your stay as great as possible. Omar is lovely and so was Linda. The sea front has lots of bars and some good restaurants and comes alive at night. You won’t need to walk far for something to eat and there is also a large supermarket about 5 minutes away.

This is by far the best hotel in Naples. The rooms are very unique and give you a great experience. The staff are AMAZING! They are willing to go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and to answer any questions! Dionisio and Linda are the best!

The hotel was awesome! Staff was amazing- amenities were great too. Breakfast was yummy, and the pizza place next door is absolutely delicious. A/C works great- beds are comfy. My only complaint is the bathroom was SO small... I could barely fit in the shower lol. Otherwise, i'd totally stay here again. the staff here make the hotel great. Everyone is so friendly. It's close to the port of Molo Beverello (10-15 minute walk) for day trips and excursions. Well worth the money- would totally stay here again.
