I had a really hard time choosing a hotel in Naples because the reviews were so bad for seemingly any property that wasn't a luxury brand. We settled on Hotel Rex and I'm very glad we did. This little hotel is in a great, walkable, waterfront location. The staff are welcoming and helpful, and the rooms were perfectly comfortable. We only stayed one night before flying out of Naples Airport, but if returning to Naples, we would absolutely stay there again. Hotel Rex looks pretty close to the ferry terminal on a map, but because of where you dock it took us about 20 minutes to walk there. The sidewalks in this part of Naples are bumpy, like cobblestones, so it was a slow, hot walk struggling to pull suitcases. Just take a cab-- there are plenty. This part of Naples is really nice, though. You're right along the waterfront with a pretty view, many hotels, restaurants, and shops. It's scenic, with families out strolling. We arrived in the morning, and the hotel happily stored our bags for the day so we could visit Pompeii. It was a quick cab ride to the train station (Circumvesuviana), and then an easy train ride to Pompeii. When we returned, tired from the outing, the hotel staff checked us in quickly and brought us our bags. We were on the ground level, right off the lobby, which was great for us, since we were leaving very early the next morning. The room was comfortable and air conditioned. We asked the staff member at the desk to recommend a great pizza place nearby. She suggested Gino Sorbillo, which was a 10 minute walk down the waterfront. This was a very good recommendation -- the pizza was incredible. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Rex and highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Naples. It was easy to get to the ferry, the train station, Pompeii, and the airport from here. The area is lovely and safe.…
