For a very reasonable price we had a giant room, beautifully appointed, in elegant surroundings (yes you do want the park view, not the ocean view). Ercolano is gritty, but Herulaneum is steps away and Vesuvius, Oplonti, etc. nearby. We drove, and parked in the secured gated lot. Not sure I would want to stay here without a car. Food... more

drove through herculaneum with some anxiety as we serched for the hotel ! My wife and I just stayed here for 6 nights and beg to differ with some of the negative comments made by other reviewers of this beautiful hotel. The Miglio D'Oro is a very nice 4 star hotel located in Ercolano, an old Campanian city that has that Mezzogiorno personality...admittedly a little gritty but colorful, full of life and filled... more

This hotel is a complete shambles... and in a slum to boot... with no local restaurants... no local bars... We arrived to be shown to our sea view room...a sea view across a building site and the local concrete factory... room was ok... free minibar with beer/water/tonic... Hotel was empty... you are rattling around a mansion... bar was empty.... restaurant... more

First, let me say that we had a wonderful trip to Mt Vesuvias and the ruins in Herculaneum. But..................... Be prepared when you get off the train in Ercolano. It's one step above a slum. We were told our hotel, The Miglio D'Oro, was within walking distance of the train station (200 meters we were told). But it's more like... more

Very elegant surroundings and a great view of vesuvius from the room window. If you can look past the busy main road, the graffiti and the ghetto type surroundings on the doorstep then you'll probably feel at home here. On arriving in Ercolano the taxi driver warned us not to go out at night! It is a very rough area... more
