The location is wonderful near the Piazza del Popolo. The problem is the bad condition of the art nouveau building, too old. It really needs urgent restoration. One wall of the rooms we have reserved had plenty of insects and little animals that "attacked" who slept there. Those animals were hidden when we arrived in the morning. But in the... More

We recently stayed here for 4 nights. Our first room (which we found out later was a "premium" room) had bad windows which allowed all the street noise into the room and it had a major problem in the bathroom. The toilet wouldn't stop running, and the shower door allowed tons of water to escape onto the bathroom floor, flooding... More

Near the Plaza Del Popolo and many other attractions, the hotel provided quiet, yet elegant comfort. The staff especially Virgilio was very accommodating, setting up our Vatican tickets and printing them out, having packages delivered to our room and providing a marvelous breakfast each day with great coffee. Terrace roof sitting area where they have occasional entertainment, a good cocktail... More

We recently spent 2 full weeks at Hotel Locarno, and here are the reasons we didn't leave the hotel after the disasterous first night: First, the ground-level courtyard formed by the two main buildings is truly delightful. You begin your day there with breakfast (included). After a day exploring the city, rest up and start your evening with a cocktail... More

stayed four nights from sept 26th-Quirky charm of art deco style hotel-we had asked for room in main hotel but ended in annexe-it's really 2 houses joined at ground level by exuisate outside terrace-junior suite spacious but with some problems-no shower just hand held over bath-hard mattress-creaky bed, creaky floor-old furniture but bed frame was rather grand! Don't expect mod cons.... More

After extensive searching for the "perfect" Rome accomodations, we were greatly disappointed with our results at the Locarno. Coming from a quaint and lovely hotel in Sorrento that was half the price, the Locarno had much to be desired. Pluses--location was convienent to many of Rome's attractions. Ambiance of lobby and bar, dining room and courtyard was attractive. Breakfast buffet... More

Perfect location as far as I'm concerned. Love this part of Rome. Locarno is steps from Piazza del Popolo. Really enjoyed the outdoor and indoor bars at night and the roof deck during the late afternoon/early evening. Staff were friendly and accommodating. When I first checked in, the room they gave me was sort of dark and dingy, certainly one... More

We stayed at the Hotel Locarno for one night after our reservation was not honored at the Hotel River Palace. The hotel was dirty and shabby, with severe need of a major remodel. The bathroom had cracked tile in the shower with very obvious mold stain and the shower curtain was dirty, dragging in the water and allowing water to... More

In August 2011, we stayed at the Locarno for 5 nights. On the day of our checkout we were approached by the manager and told that the glass on the table had been broken adn that we were going to be charged for it. As we explained to them, there was nothing that we did that could have caused the... More
