Three things that I like about this hotel. First, it is walking distance from Roma Termini which is great because that means I don't have to get an Uber anymore. Restaurants abound too in the area where you can have lunch and dinner without breaking your purse. It is also in a safer section of the neighborhood. Secondly, the room that was given to us was very spacious. It has an elevator unlike in the other apartments wherein we had to carry our heavy luggage to the higher floor. It is clean and the design of the place is aligned to an opera setting without being too loud. There is also a big place where you just can relax in the waiting area. Thirdly, we felt welcome in the hotel. the receptionists were accommodating and helpful. Early in the morning when I need espresso, the receptionist prepared two cups for me and my wife. Thank you Giglio Dell' Opera for making our Christmas vacation in Rome a memorable one.

The best thing about Giglio is it’s location. You can never ask for a better location than this. Exactly three minutes walk from Termini Station, it is surrounded by nice out sitting restaurants, a small super store that also have reasonably priced Italian wine and some of the tourist attractions at walkable distance. Collosium is approximately 1.5 kms from here. Though there are buses (number H) from Termini but I will advise to take a cab because the tourists pickpocketing is so rampant that it is really a menace (we saw an American man and his wife literally crying as they were robbed of their wallet which had his all credit cards). However, let’s come back to the hotel Giglio. If you fancy a hotel with a large balcony or big windows then you must look some other property. But if you are a genuine tourist who wants value for money, centrally located just go for this place. Our room was on fifth floor and our A/C was set at 26 degrees Celsius. There was no remote in the room. I spoke to reception and Mr Rauf came rushing upstairs, brought a remote and set the temperature as we wanted. Though we were only two people we were given a room fit for four people. The bathroom was really spacious. They don’t provide a lot of toiletries but good enough to shower. I have had breakfast at various expensive hotels in Rome, Florance and Siena but the breakfast provided at Giglio was much better than most. I must also add that the very kind girl at the breakfast service named Safia was just an Angel for us. She is soft spoken, very oriented towards customers and one who looks for solutions. We wanted vegetarian breakfast and she got us cheese tomato sandwiches because everything else had meat. Overall this is a great hotel because it gives you best value for money, it’s location and its kind staff.

The most alarming issue during my stay was the discovery of security cameras in many of the rooms. This blatant invasion of privacy is not only unethical but also illegal in most jurisdictions. It is absolutely unacceptable to have cameras in guest rooms, and it left me feeling violated and unsafe. The staff seemed disinterested and unresponsive to guest needs. Requests for assistance or information were met with indifference, and it was clear that guest satisfaction was not a priority. This experience was not what I expected from a hotel with a 3-star rating, and I would strongly discourage anyone from booking a stay here.

I would just like to say a few words about this awful hotel. Take all ( and there many ) the negative comments, multiply them by 10 and you will get an idea as to how bad this dump is. From the missing tiles, toilet door that won't close, filthy walls and carpets to the mould in the bathroom and the disgusting breakfast it really does defy belief that it is allowed to trade. It gets one star simply because of its location. Avoid at all costs.

Our stay in Rome was a traumatic experience. The filth, non-compliance with standards and the obvious scam we were subjected to created an atmosphere of constant discomfort and dissatisfaction. As travelers, we deserve better than to be exploited and deceived. We urge future visitors to Rome to avoid this hotel. My brother and I, both non-Italian speaking teenagers, had the misfortune to book a stay at a hotel that quickly turned our positive expectations into a nightmarish experience. Not only was the hotel far from clean and well maintained, it also failed to meet the minimum standards expected to welcome guests. What could have been a pleasant stay in the Eternal City turned into a deplorable rip-off, leaving a sour taste in our mouths. As soon as we arrived, we were struck by the general condition of the hotel. The hallways seemed neglected and poorly maintained, with dirty, faded carpets. An unpleasant smell hung in the air, which clearly suggested a lack of hygiene. The rooms themselves were in a deplorable state. The sheets were stained, the floors were dusty and the bathroom was in a pitiful state, with a broken toilet and a tub that hadn't been cleaned in ages. Second, the electrical outlets in our room were loose and unsafe, posing a clear fire hazard. Also, the air conditioning system was faulty, which made for particularly uncomfortable nights in Rome's summer heat. What made our experience even more deplorable was the feeling of having been ripped off. When booking, we had been attracted by the flattering photos of the hotel online, which were totally misleading compared to reality. Also, the price we paid was significantly higher than the actual value of the accommodation. We later found out that other travelers had also been victims of this scam.

We had 2 large rooms booked for my husband and I and our 2 adult daughters for 2 nights, and couldn't have been more disgusted. It was the most filthy hotel rooms any of us have ever seen. The lobby is very classy and clean, but go into the rooms and it's a whole different world. The walls were filthy, the mattresses were filthy and hard as rock, the comforters were filthy and torn, torn wallpaper, mold around the skylights and all over the bathroom. Only managed to get hot water once and it was gross and brown. Shower drain was plugged. We asked for extra clean sheets to cover up with so we could discard the filthy comforter, and there were BUGS in the clean sheets they gave us. The walls are paper thin and it was super noisy and both rooms were SOOOOOO cold. Unbelievable that they charged us $300 Canadian PER room PER night. If we had known the rooms were like this and there was nothing else affordable available we would have skipped Rome altogether as these NASTY rooms ruined our stay in Rome. When we mentioned our concerns to the front desk, the woman looked empathetic and said "I'm sorry. We are working on the problem". After reading the other reviews, I can say with 100% confidence that they are NOT working on the problem because old is one thing but complete lack of cleaning is inexcusable. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Large and bad This was not a Good experience, But it had One Good thing so let’s start there. We Are a family of four; mom, dad, Girl 10yr and boy 18yr. The room was really large more like Two rooms, High cielings and VERY charming, the beds Are ok, But the sleeping couch was bad. Now to the bad things:: Cold cold cold we had to borrow two Small Electric heaterfans, the floor was ice cold. At 08.30 construction was hammering on the Walls inside the hotel. The shower was broken, the Wall was so dirty. The Extra blankets looked really nasty. The breakfast… oh my god… that was the worst, No bread, No ham, No cheese, No salami only cornflakes, salmon sandwich and cake 😵‍💫

My opinion is very bad, my suitcase was stolen inside the hotel, the management was immediately informed, they said they would take action, as our flight was in 2 hours, to trust them they guaranteed that it would appear and sent to my residence , I call there, they don't answer, they don't resume calls, they don't respond to emails, they don't respond to the agency. Be very careful.

Bad hotel. We were 4 nights. The room is small and old. The wi-if is with bad connection. The breakfast we must to wait 20-30’minutes, because the restaurant is smaller. The staff is Ok and polite, but this is the one advantage about my opinion.

What a total catfish this place is. Don't let the photos fool you, like they did us. We were shown photos of the room we allegedly booked and were given a virtual jail cell. When I went to complain, the front desk person said too bad, those photos are of our executive suite. When I asked if they had complaints about showing photos of the wrong room before he said "yes people complain. Too bad". He clearly did not care that they were misrepresenting their rooms because they obviously sell their rooms anyway due to their location. It's a total dump.
