The hotel is very conveniently located and of a reasonable standard. The buffet breakfast was a good start to the day and the rooms comfortable but not flash. We ate in the restaurant located next to the hotel on two nights and the food was good and reasonable, even though it looks very posh and formal; we found it good... more

I know the "star" ratings are different in Europe from the U.S., but this was like a bad Motel 6. Even when we complained about the filth (see mold in showers, carpets not vacumed, etc) and where upgraded it was bad. The only redeeming feature of this hotel is that it is well-located. more

We stayed three nights at the Cicerone hotel and if you are from the US you will notice the differences right away. For one, a double room usually means twin beds, and no two rooms are built to look the same. The room was just average for it being a four star hotel. The staff was slow to respond to... more

We stayed there for one night to be near the Vatican....and found ourselves in a rather dismal room that was tired and equivalent of a tired Comfort Inn. It was clean and functional. The bed and pillows were hard, but we have found that to be the case in the two hotels that we stayed in Rome. There is nothing... more

After reading some of the reviews on this forum I was expecting the worst. What a pleasant surprise ,our triple room was roomy and very clean. Bathroom had a full bath and shower lots of towels and a nice quiet room. Breakfast was the usual affair but I would agree with the other reviewers that the orange juice is awful... more

We loved the location, close to the Vatican and St Peter's but furniture and linens were quite worn and we had a view of a concrete wall.. It is pricey for the quality of the room. The breakfast choices were good. We stayed here for three days and then moved to the Dei Mellini for the last three days and... more

This hotel is decent. Location is OK, not too much around it, but not as bad as some desolate locations. Overall cleanliness and service of hotel is good. You must remember European hotels are not like American hotels, with the luxuries of a strong a/c and centered locations, but I did enjoy my stay. Just being in Italy makes it... more

Met our family in Rome at this hotel. We had a total of four rooms. Three of the the rooms were very old (1970 style) and in desperate need of updating. Old, worn, frayed carpeting etc. One room however was on a floor that had been renovated. That room was new, bright and modern. It was not the room I... more

This hotel was an excellent location for walking to all main sights of interest. We found the staff helpful on all occasions except when we requested breakfast half an early before an early pick up for a city tour. The rooms and bathrooms were always comfortable and clean and we never had any problems with noise or the lifts while our... more

We enjoyed our stay at the Cicerone. The room was clean and air conditioned. The price to watch a movie on the TV was expensive. Around 12 Euros. Across the road was a very nice little restaurant. The great thing was that we could walk to the Vatican from the hotel. We are both in our 60's, but it was... more
