The location of this hotel is very convenient. It is possible to walk down to the Colloseum and Roman Forum (we did). Termini Station and the Pantheon are a short bus/taxi ride away. The rooms are adequately sized but a bit run down with wallpaper peeling off at places. The breakfast is sufficient in terms of variety and quantity. The... More

Me and my dad went to this Hotel with no high hopes but looking at the revews on this site sugested alot of bad press, but one great point was the location of this Hotel. Ok the Hotel is not on the strip of a big road “when in Rome” pretty much all hotels are in narrow streets and even... More

We were lucky to be upgraded to a suite, which was very comfortable, except that the safe did not work. Everything, including the bathroom was impeccably clean, and the sheets were exceptionally starched and ironed. The initial greeting at reception was very friendly. The breakfast was plentiful, if a little on the basic side. It would have been nice to... More

The cab drivers from the airport and train stations Obviously have a deal with this hotel. They'll talk you out of going to your scheduled hotel saying that your chosen hotel is in a dangerous neiborhood ect..then haul you over to this hotel where they bring all unsuspecting tourist. You'll pay top dollar for a kinda shabbly room with semi-friendly... More

I lived in Italy for a year. I speak Italian. I know about the con artists that roam around the train station in Rome like cockroaches. I had carefully selected another hotel to stay at before I arrived in Rome. The taxi driver took me there only to find out it was not a hotel but a pensione. So he... More

This was a good hotel for a solo traveler. The desk staff were more than helpful when it came to anything. For example, for some reason they overbooked, and did not have a room for me my first night, so they found me a hotel room, and paid for the taxi to the new hotel. The next day, I checked... More

A taxi took us to one of his "favorite" hotels for only 200 euros a night. The room was small, peeled wallpaper and so so clean. We payed up front (which was the only hotel in our six week European stay that did.) Figuring just a place to sleep, we had them book us a tour (which was expensive and... More

Average noisy rooms, with bits missing. Old dated TV's and service that'd make Basil Fawlty look like...well...Mother Theresa! Breakfast was cold salami, stale bread and spilt cappucino's...all served with a scowl. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone! More

We stayed in Hotel Virgilio for 5 nights at the start of August and all in all it wasn't a bad choice Positives first; very clean which is most important.Very decent location for getting to the main sights in Rome, 5/10 minutes stroll to Termimi Station, San Maria Maggiore,Trevi Fountain, Colosseum. Staff were friendly enough and there was an excellent... More
