In months on the road, a long weekend in Rome was the only real downtime my husband and I were going to have. I found this hotel on another travel site and contacted them directly to ask questions. The owner -- Fabio -- answered every one of my questions and even upgraded us to a balcony when we got there.... more

We just returned from Umbria and spent 3 days in Rome staying at the Hotel Scalinata de Spagna. It is located at the top of the Spanish Steps across the street from the upscale hotel Hassler (which has a wonderful view from its rooftop restaurant and bar). Although the Scalinatta is small its rooms are well decorated and the service... more

Its true about the location. Very Nice area and easy to get to. We took the train from the airport and the metro here. There is an ELEVATOR that takes you up to the top of the Spanish steps from the metro so dont worry about carrying your luggage up. The staff is very friendly. The hotel is tiny! and... more

My husband, 8-year old daughter and i just returned from a 3-week trip to europe, 3 days of which we spent at the hotel scalinata di spagna. The location at the top of the spanish steps, just a few yards from the hotel hassler, can't be beat, and charming Fabio at the front desk took wonderful care of us. Our triple... more

The hotel is situated on the top of the Spanish Steps. Charming decoration. Clean. Very friendly and helpful manager that helped us find a last minute tour to Vatican Museum. The outdoor breakfast was simple and nice. We got the room at the last minute for EUR 120 for a two-person room with double bed and EUR 140 for a... more

We arrived at the Scalinata after a bad experience in a small hotel in Florence. We were apprehensive about what we might find. We were really happy with the choice. The location was great, the rooms were small but clean. The staff friendly and helpful. The roof top was a nice place to have breakfast although breakfast was no so... more

We picked this hotel after we had seen all the good reviews people all over the world had written about Scalinata di Spagna and decided to see for ourselves. We are a family of three with a small child and asked for an extra bed for the baby and there was no problem in getting it. As we entered the... more

We stayed there only for one night but decided that if ever in Rome again that is the perfect place to stay. The price for the room was not very expensive with breakfast and all taxes included. Everyone from the hotel was very kind especially the receptionist who also had a great sense of humor. The room we got was... more

My mother and i couldn't have been more pleased. Our room was small, but located on the ground floor as we requested, and had a wonderfully updated and sparkling clean bath attached. We just spent one night, following a cruise, but the great location gave us a chance to see lots of Rome without needing taxis. Fabio (who made the... more

I am surprised about the very diferent critics about this same place. How come, one calls the hotel rooms fithy but a next one states spotless rooms - staying the same month and the same type of room ? How come one calles the breakfeast poor and no attention at all, while a next one states great breakfeast and very... more
