Hotel Scalinata is the perfect hotel to stay in if you go to Rome. Situated very close to Piazza di Spagna the hotel is always full with guests because of the many tourist attractions around it so book yous stay there in time. Just 5 minutes by foot is the famous Fontana di Trevi and the center of the city... more

My husband and I just returned from seven nights in Rome at stayed at the Scalinata. We had a great experience! Okay, the rooms are small and Frommer did exaggerate a bit. But the pluses are many! Great location...you can walk all over Rome from this hotel. The views right outside the door are incredible. Yes, you do have to... more

I booked a reservation 6 monthes ago.I contacted the hotel directly by phone, booked 3 deluxe rooms, gave them a credit card and received a confirmation. 3 days a go they left me a message that they needed to speak to me. I called back immediatly. The hotel wanted to know if I still planned on staying there as the... more

Do NOT stay here. We booked after the high recommendations from Frommers, but we should have listened to the negative reviews of previous guests! On top of the Spanish Steps, with views of these steps from rooms 10 or 12??? NO WAY!!! How could this possibly be considered the moderately priced alternative to staying at the Hasstler? NO WAY!!! We... more

First of all, I just want to say that I work in a hotel, so I am very good in recognizing all the "tricks" the hotel's may play on a customer. I can't think of a good comment for the concierge at Hotel Scalinata di Spagna.... They are all very unprofessional! The welcome at the hotel is enough to give... more

All in all our stay here was good. The rooms were clean, albiet a bit small. Good location at the top of the Spanish Steps walkable to all major sites of the city. Beware of the concierge's reccommendations for dinner if you are looking for something authentic. more

Good welcome, excellent location at the top of the Spanish Steps and easy to walk to so many places. The hotel has the real Italian atmosphere - don't go there if you want a 5 star International hotel. The bed was large and comfy and the room and bathroom spotless. Staff very helpful. Perhaps the only minus that we thought... more

I made a reservation on their webpage. I got a immediate confirmation message but somehow they could not process my credit card information so I have to re-send it. Two weeks later, I received an e-mail from them asking to re-confirm. When I phone them back since they were not answering my e-mails, they did not even know the date... more

I was in 7 hotels that month throughout Europe and this was the WORST! The room was very small, dark, and dingy, with dated linens. The only thing decent about the hotel was the location, if you don't mind walking up 300 steps every time you return to your hotel. The worst part was the fact that the place overcharged... more
