Although not dead in the centre of Rome, City Guest House is a 10 minute train ride from the essential sites. Buy a three day tourist train ticket for 11 Euro. The hotel is close to 'normal' shops & you will save a fortune by eating at the local restaurants & cafes. more

Could not believe our luck when we arrived at this clean, cheerful ikea clad hotel. Very cheap and a great location in a quiet suburb a couple of minutes walk from a metro stop.
