The Hotel Augustea is a centrally placed city hotel convenient for Rome Termini rail station, bus network and City Tours. The 19th Century rustic building is situated on the main Via Nazionale and houses the Augustea and the Hotel Repubblica with a McDonalds restaurant beneath. The hotel has a small ‘stair well’ lift which is accessed from street level up... more

My boyfriend and i stayed at Hotel Augustea for 3 nights at the end of last month. The hotel was basic and very old fashioned and my first thought of the hotel wern't great i thought it was dirty but after an hour or so of being there and getting over the tiredness of the flight i came to realise... more

We stayed here for 3 nights and thought the room was below average and very basic, no frills and outdated. Overall cleanliness of room was not great. Room very small, breakfast average. Restaurants / cafes in this are not great. Walking distance to places ok, but we would chose to stay somewhere different or pay that little bit extra to... more

Upon entering the room for the first time, we noticed an odor of sewage. When it was brought to the attention of the front desk personnel, he came into the room and sprayed lots and lots of air freshener and then suggested if it didn't clear up, we should just open the window. Foul! Also, the carpets were stained and... more

Hotel Augustea is not as bad as some of these reviews are suggesting and I would recommend it. The hotel is run by a very pleasant Italian family – from arrival, they were accommodating and friendly, making general chatter and offering advice on local sights and so on. Our room was a fairly good size with a twin beds, a... more

We booked a room at Hotel Augustea several months in advance, and confirmed it twice, but when we arrived we were told our airconditioner wasn't working and we were taken to Hotel Patria. We accepted this with good humour but things went downhill from here. We were very unhappy with the other hotel. more

I booked this holiday through Citalia with First Choice. We left on friday 7th for 3 nights. When we got to the airport its cheaper to get a bus to get into rome, you pay 1.50 euros each and the same price if you have a big suitcase then when you get on the metro you can hop on and... more

Never again will I choose a hotel on the basis of its photographic advertisment. The photos show a room of reasonable size and bearable taste in decor. Imagine our surprise when we found our room was built around the main stairwell. Split level with one half consisting of an undersize double bed (I think its called a King Single here... more

We stayed in the augustea for 3 nights. This hotel is built into an old italian building which has narrow corridors and stairways. It even has an old style lift where you have to open a door and then push back a metal concertina guard. I have to say i loved that, I thought it gave it character. The rooms... more

We ended up here when someone made an error in booking us into our preferred hotel nearby - the local agent found this for us and booked us in at very short notice. Though we were clearly pleased to have somewhere to stay for the night without too much trouble, some problems emerged once we had accepted the room (described... more
