My wife and I along with our daughter and a friend staying for five nights. Clean and safe accomodations, good breakfast choices, close to Vatican and San Piedro train station. 64 bus to downtown short walk down the hill. Much longer walk to Metro but you can take the bus to Termini and transfer to the Metro there. Staff in... more

I recently took a group of 28 people on a tour of Italy. We stayed the last 5 nights of the trip in Rome at this hotel. I have mixed feelings about this property. Definite pros and cons. Pro ~ The hotel was very clean. Con ~The rooms were extremely small and the bathroom was so tiny you couldn't even... more

S. Maria alle Fornaci is a good budget option in Rome. Attached to a church it is religiously affiliated but is not a pilgrimage house per se---anyone can stay there. The rooms are spartan--beds, a nightstand, a lamp, no tv. Bathrooms are decently sized and worked fine. If you view your hotel as a place to sleep, it's great. They... more

Lovely hotel3 blocks form the Vatican. Rooms are basic, nice bathroom, very nice breakfast included. For a modest price, this is a great find in Rome. more

We had the most amazing holiday in Rome staying at this clean, mostly quiet, B&B. The breakfast was so hearty, and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. They had the quickest wait time for radio cabs. The rooms were simple, but had enough storage and closet space. We were thrilled at how close St. Peter's was. And since we... more

We stayed for two nights in September 2008 and had a great time! The staff are terrific and its about 10 minutes walk to St. Peter's Basilica. The rooms are good size and clean; the windows are double-paned to block out noise from the street and its only 5 minutes walk to the S. Pietro train station for easy access... more

When first arriving in the bustle and heat of Rome, we were grateful to see that Santa Maria was going to offer the tranquility and respite we would need in order to start our Italian vacation off the right way. Gated and set away from the busy streets of Trastevere, this little hotel's rooms are all on the first floor,... more

This review is based on a stay exaclty one year ago from this writing. April 11, 2007. I was just thinking of my wonderful Rome trip and wishing we were there right now. The accomodations are clean, comfortable, and just what you need. Breakfast is included and always delicious. This is not the Hilton, nor does it need to be. You... more

Convent converted into a hotel, just a couple blocks south of St Peter's Square. The rooms are basic but immaculate, comfortable, and air conditioned. No TV in the rooms, which was fine by me. Staff was very helpful and pleasant, and most spoke a good bit of English. Great value. more

Wonderful location, just a few streets from St Peters. As you would expect from a religious establishment rooms were quite small and spartan but contained all necessities. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful, staff polite and helpful, clean and overall excellent value for money. more
