Clark is a fantastic host. We stayed for 10 days but wish it could have been longer. The castle is filled with exciting places to discover, but most of all fantastic people. It was the highlight of our trip and will be remembered for years to come

I went to the Castle of Galeazza by myself in January of 2012, so I had an unusual and unforgettable time. The place kind of closes down in the winter, but if guests feel like braving the freezing but frescoed bedrooms, they'll also get the pleasure of electric blankets, little chickadees at their window eating seed, and feeling like the... There is nothing like it. I've been many times. My kids love helping Clark tend his 100% organic garden and exploring all the beautiful organisms that help it grow. Yes, there are bugs - beyond the necessary ones that keep the garden healthy - there are dragonflies, butterflies, and lady bugs. They shimmer over the little pool in the garden... More

After two lovely weeks at a five-star resort in Malta, we spent five nights at Clark's castle. While Malta was neat, luxurious, deeply relaxing and pricy, the Castello will be remembered for a much longer time than the resort. Why? Because it's amazing. And yes, also pricy. If you can live with tons of insects and a few arachnids, sharing... More

I agree with everything the previous reviewer said. We stayed at the Castello at the same time as him and his lovely wife and it was a real pleasure. We read and read and read and read some more. We discussed all sorts of stuff with the guests, host Clark and his band of helpers. We ate shedloads and drank... More

What a place! If you like to meet and engage with people interested in gardening and the liberal arts, but you're not too bothered about meals arriving at a particular time (although you'd be happy to go to the kitchen, see what's available and start making a meal yourself); if you like the idea of sitting round a kitchen table... The staff and facilities were fantastic! I found everyone incredibly friendly and welcoming - as someone who has been travelling around Europe it was great to arrive somewhere and feel so at home so quickly. Being away from the hustle and bustle of towns made this the perfect retreat. I have no doubts that this will be somewhere that I... More

I stayed for a week and it was magical. The location is secluded enough to be peaceful when wishing to take in the clean air while devouring one of the many books in a hammock borrowed from the extensive library, but it's also a gateway to the north. I easily visited Verona, Florence and Venice by train for day-trips to... More

This was the most unexpected and unpolished yet memorable stay of our 3-week trip. When I told the proprietor, Clark, that his world was "interesting," I meant it in the best way: a gated castle in the country with painted ceilings, group meals, goats to feed, swings, a train to Bologna, tame bunnies, books to borrow...a truly magical place.

The castle is magical, especially at night. Between the view, the books, and the peerless hospitality that Clark offers as a host, the experience is just lovely. I cannot imagine a better place to stay in Emilia Romagna.
