Lovely hotel - 4 stars. Immaculate. 500 meters from the town center. Restaurant is surprisingly good and a good value considering the prices in Portofino. Breakfast is excellent. Staff speaks English, although not particularlywarm toward Americans. more

This hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk from Portofino's City Center. We stayed in Portofino to "decompress" after a hectic, three-week vacation in Europe, and there's no better place to recover. The hotel is perched on the side of a mountain overlooking the water, and it has a private "beach" with chaise lounges set up on terraces leading down to a rocky beach below. Stayed here for 3 nights in September 09 and found it to be a wonderful hotel. Charming staff...great breakfast, lovely private beach and eating area on the beach. Our room was HUGE with a lovely bathroom, one downside was lack of storage area...ie drawers...Lots of hanging space but no space for your smalls. Perfect location to walk into the port... more

We found Domina on Hotels.com when we were staying in Florence. Somehow got two nights there for $200/night and were extremely pleased with the hotel, particularly the location and the room itself. I'm sure Splendido is beautiful (we hiked past on our way to Frutuosso (sp?)), but given a choice between the two I'd actually opt for being on Domina's... more
