I agree with all the positive things that have been said about this hotel, and my only criticism is the gloomy lighting in the room which makes it impossible to read after dark unless you lay on the bed and tun a reading light on. Due to a change in our programme we arrived in Sirmione two days earlier than planned and therefore had no prior booking at this hotel. Hotel Flaminia turned out to be even better than expected. Its location in Sirmione was better than great. This town is simply gorgeous and so much fun. We were upgraded on arrival at Hotel Flaminia to a superior room in the annexe because we had paid Bath Travel £50 each for a balcony/lake view. Great room with 3 piece suite, great big bed and nice decorations. We have just returned from four lovely days in Lake Garda which was only enhanced by this lovely hotel. Take a taxi direct from train station Desenzano, they are few and far between but we were very lucky and got one on arrival. A short taxi drive takes you to the busy streets of Sirmione. We stayed for 2 weeks at the Hotel Flaminia in May 2008. We had emailed the hotel on a few ocassions prior to arriving to arrange airport transfers etc and found them to be extremely helpful and prompt with responses. Had just a week at this lovely little hotel. We were put in the newly decorated "feng shui" wing, large bedroom with slightly weird decor and beatifully appointed bathroom but as building is slightly set back does not give a full view of the lake. Arriving 20:00 at Desenzano station with the 18:03 train from Mestre, we should "just take a taxi" to Sirmione (10 km) with our two heavy suitcases.
