Hotel Arena reminds me of the style of Holiday Inns in the UK - bonus is that every room has a balcony or terrace from where you can get a view of the lake, but there is a main road outside the hotel which intercepts the view. We have just returned from staying at The Arena Sirmione.. This hotel is ideally situated for touring the lakes and visiting Verona and Venice. We found the hotel pretty much as others have said though the owners are not at all friendly. The staff are great and very helpful, the owners don't deserve them. This hotel is very clean and pleasant. The room we had was very recently refurbished in a modern and classy style, with comfortable beds, air conditioning, and spa bath (small extra charge paid for this). A nice basic hotel. Hotel Arena is about a 5 min walk from the foot of the Sermonine peninsula. Absolutely ideal if you have a hire car (or a bike). Pool was good and clean, breakfast was reasonable and the price was very good. I'd stay here again! more
