Hotel Arnika is a friendly 3* hotel high up in the S. Pelligrino pass in the Dolomites - its a great base for a walking holiday, with hundreds of Dolimite walks within easy driving distance, and some within walking distance too.

We didn't reserve here but it wasn't a problem - we were offered a decent half board rate. The rooms were good - definitely worthy of a 3* hotel - arguably better than some 4* hotels that we have experienced.

The dining room was a little soulless, but the food was really rather good, and punched above its 3* weight. Breakfast was equally impressive - a good continental spread, with some excellent hams and cheeses.

English is sort of spoken here, but if you can't speak Italian, German might be more effective. The receptionist couldn't do enough for us.

There is a pool and sauna area downstairs, although be warned that it seems to be popular with families and children.
