When I first saw the hotel on tripadvisor, I was incredibly happy and very excited. I remember saying how lovely the pictures looked and how much I looked forward to staying at the Metropole. However, I was very much disappointed once I saw the hotel. Indeed the entrance is grand with the red carpet and great ornaments but the room... more

The wife and I stayed at the Metropole over the Valentine weekend and here are our thoughts.... Location - excellent. It is very close to San Marco square and looks over the waterfront, which in the morning, can be quite stunning. Food - I can't comment on the Michelin-star lunch and dinner as we didn't try it but we did... more

We went for New Year's and a few days in January to our incredibly disappointment due to substandard conditions! The hotel staff has no concept of customer service and the hotel is overpriced and definitely not worth a repeat visit. It is rare that we feel that we have been robbed by a hotel. The many issues included booking (and... more

I am the General Manager of the Metropole. I read your complain and you can imagine my reaction in seeing that the Hotel did not match your expectations under any point of view. My big concern was not having the possibility to talk you while you were staying with us: according to you it probably would have not changed anything,...

The Savoy in London may have sold off its chandeliers and furniture but the Metropole will always be a haven for "those of taste and discernment". Even our standard room had a magnificent chandelier and a lovely old (and very comfortable) bedroom suite. Every room is different and all are enchanting. The marble floor of the bathroom was heated -... more

After spending a great deal of time researching on hotels facing the Basin of San Marco, finally picked the Hotel Metropole due to its uniqueness. Through various emails with Alessandro and Vio, finally picked a special Deluxe room with Lagoon view, room 403. Many thanks to Alessandro for the tip, cheers! Upon checking in, we were shown the other unique... more

When we arrived at the Venice airport, I checked my water taxi reservation and noted the taxi would drop us off at the ‘nearest dock to your hotel’. I asked the representative how far the my hotel was from the dock. She laughed and said ‘Madam, you are staying at the Metropole’. I didn’t press her any further and 25... more

The Metropole was the perfect place to stay while in Venice. We got a discount on the room from a website and expected to stay in a lesser room. If this was the lesser room, then I would hate to see the luxury suite. The rooms were clean and had everything you could need to pamper yourself. The only semi... more

My wife and I selected the Metropole from a selection given by our travel agent - we stayed for 7 nights. Having their own jetty is a real plus and their (180 euro) service to meet us at the airport and speed us to the hotel by road and water taxis worked very well. On arrival the rather curt clerk... more

We have stayed at the Metropole most years since 1988 - our first visit was our honeymoon. Unlike some of the reviewers, we love the decor - classically Venetian, with bold colours and beautiful fabrics. For us, the antique furniture adds to the atmosphere - perhaps not as comfortable as furniture found in more modern hotels but very appropriate to... more
