Me and my husband went to Venice on 9/19/09 and stayed at The Riva hotel. Its a 2 star hotel with a 2 star hotel ammenities. Hotel Riva has an excellent location (especially for the price) just a few streets over from St Mark's square! (the tripadvisor map doesn't show it in the right location) You may want to keep in mind that it is several bridges from the vaparetto stops, especially if you're carrying many large bags. My wife and I stayed at Hotel Riva in Venice for one night before heading to Florence. The location is the best part about this Hotel. We literally walked 3 minutes to St. Marks Square. The husband and wife owners were incredibly friendly and our room was quiet, had its own bathroom and a window to the courtyard. more
