We stayed in a junior suite with two small balconies overlooking a canal and a gondola station. The room was extra large. We enjoyed the view, hearing the music, and watching gondoliers. Hotel Riva is close to St. Mark's square and the Rialto bridge. On leaving Venice I left my backpack on a vaporetto. It was turned in to Venice... more

We were looking for a cheap hotel near St. Mark's. After looking at several that were very expensive or too dirty we tried the Hotel Riva. Price was medium (120 euros) but our room was very small - the bed took up the entire room with just a small walkway around all sides. Bathroom was in need of updating -... more

Me and my husband went to Venice on 9/19/09 and stayed at The Riva hotel. Its a 2 star hotel with a 2 star hotel ammenities. The room is basic a double bed with side tables and an armoir and a chair is basically all there is furniture wise. No TV no hair dryer. A little dark some extra lighteing... more

The husband and wife owners were lovely and very helpful, their hotel was impressive for its one-star rating with nicely finished marble detail and chandeliers and the happy smiling people in the breakfast room seemed to be having a really great time. However, I have to share my experience. I booked a room knowing there would be a four-flight climb... more

Hotel Riva has an excellent location (especially for the price) just a few streets over from St Mark's square! (the tripadvisor map doesn't show it in the right location) You may want to keep in mind that it is several bridges from the vaparetto stops, especially if you're carrying many large bags. The quad room was very basic, but clean... more

After the experience of the water bus, it was nice to find that our hotel was cozy and relaxing. The staff was exceptional. One of them even took us to mass when we ask for a schedule more

We'd been warned that Venice was expensive, but had no idea that it would be that hard to find a budget hotel in a good location. Although at the price, it's hardly what I'd label as "budget," but after staying at the quaint Hotel Riva and experiencing it's beautiful spot, great location, and wonderful staff, I would definitely recommend it... more

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Riva in Venice for one night before heading to Florence. The location is the best part about this Hotel. We literally walked 3 minutes to St. Marks Square. The husband and wife owners were incredibly friendly and our room was quiet, had its own bathroom and a window to the courtyard. more

We stayed at Hotel Riva on day 15 of our trip. Our legs and feet were weary from all the walking so we were looking for easy-access to our room as well as quiet. THIS IS NOT THE PLACE for either! The hotel is a convulated, storied, confusing layout of rooms, some over the scenic canal or over the walkways... more

This was our first visit to Venice and Hotel Riva is quintessentially Venice. You arrive by boat to San Marco Square; it takes your breath away. You walk past the Duomo and take a left--follow the street that goes between the bank and Angelo's restaurant, cross the bridge and the hotel is in front of you after you pass a... more
